Hey, I’m selling a GPS/FRS/GMRS Rino 110 on eBay.

It’s a long story, but it’s brand new, never been opened, and can’t be returned to the store because we lost the receipt. :)

Winamp5 FINAL was released today.

BetaNews (of all places) has the final version available for download right now, and winamp.com will reflect the changes by midnight tonight.

Winamp 2.x and 3.x have both been officially discontinued as of today. 5 beats the pants off of them both, so uninstall and get downloadin’!

So we caught Saddam. That’s good, I guess. The whole point of the war was to get him out of power and we did that a long time ago.

Much more exciting news came this weekend when Sandra won Survivor. I was actually pulling for Johnny Fairplay to win it, just because he turned out to be such a great manipulator. True, he was an asshole and I couldn’t stand him, but I still think he played the game better than most of the other contestants. I don’t mind Sandra winning it at all, although I’m still not really sure how she managed to last so long.

The next Survivor starts on Super Bowl Sunday and it’ll be an all-star reunion show. The roster of contestants hasn’t been announced yet, but survivorfever.net has made some informed guesses

I never watched seasons 3, 4, and 5 apparently!

The Story Behind Ultra Edit – my text editor of choice – is a bizarre one indeed!

Here’s the story in a nutshell:

* Guy’s happy with his day job.

* Guy writes shareware software program to fill a void in the text editing world.

* Guy goes to sleep one night and says “God, if 20 people register my software tomorrow, that is a sign from you to quit my job!”

* Guy gets 21 registrations the next day and quits his job.

I think the guy was just bored at work. Sometimes I play games like that too.

“If the next truck that passes by my window has more than six wheels, that means I need to go to the bathroom.”

It’s fun!

The most unfair part of the California Vehicle Code is as follows:

27602. No person shall drive a motor vehicle which is equipped with a television receiver, screen, or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast which is located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of the driver’s seat, or which is visible to the driver while operating the motor vehicle. This section shall not apply to a mobile digital terminal installed in a law enforcement vehicle.

Granted, this doesn’t really apply to me because I don’t have an in-car TV, but I wanted one. It’d be nice to spend my 60+ minutes in the car on the ride home from work watching the news or the Simpsons or what-have-you.

Damn the man.

Out of the box, Game Boy Advance flash cartridges let you play GBA games – not old Game Boy games.

Check out Goomba! It removes that annoying limitation by emulating a GB on the GBA.

You might recall that the GBA has GB emulation hardware in it, so this might not seem like much of a breakthrough. Not so!

GBA carts run at a different voltage than GB carts, so having a GBA flash cart running at old-school GB voltage levels wouldn’t work. This emulator truly emulates an old school Game Boy on the souped-up GBA hardware at full speed.

I just ran across it a few minutes ago, so I’ll check it out tonight!

Roy Disney and Stanley Gold are singin’ it from the mountaintops!

In TV news, TechTV and the all-video-games-all-the-time G4 network could be merging as early as the end of this month. I feel that this would suck very much. Although I’ve never seen G4, all reports I’ve heard say it’s first rate crapola.

TechTV is good as-is. It’d be even better if they got rid of Robot Wars and those imported British documentaries about spy tech and other conspiracy stuff.

Last night I watched part one (of two) of the new Battlestar Galactica miniseries. I was expecting it to be awful, but I found it riveting!

My favorite part of the mediocre BG TV series from the 60s was the menacing Cylon robot army. In this new series, you hardly ever see the Cylons – and when you do they’re CGI versions that bear very little resemblance to the orignals. So that part sucks, but at least the story’s good.

I’m not sure what compelled me to check on this, but we actually host Comfort Stand Records. Is life excellent or is life excellent?

JACK-POT-BABY!

TWO awesome Internetish things to report!

I must be the most unconnected loser ever, because here it is 338 days into 2003 and I’m only just now finding out about the incredibly super duper 365 Days Project! For each day of 2003, 365DP will post one obscure mp3 file for your listening enjoyment, complete with documentation for each composition. All of the files will go away on January 5th though, so I’ve got to bust my ass and get downloading before it’s too late! You too!

One of the founders of the 365 Days Project, Otis Fodder, has also started his own record label. Comfort Stand Records is an online-only record label dedicated to spreading new and old music – FREE. There’s a catch, though! With bandwidth pricing being what it is, Comfort Stand’s albums will be in limited release and won’t be available for download after a certain date.

Two Zombies Later is Comfort Stand’s first and only release to date. It’s a double-CD complete with high-res printable CD labels and liner notes. After Feburary 1st you’ll need to hop on your P2P network of choice if you want to download this gem, but until that day comes, you can download it now!
