I think I got my webcam working again. It was freezing up after running for a day or two before and my images would get corrupted and stuff. I just updated the software this afternoon, and it seems to be working for now…

Check me out! Click the webcam link at the bottom of the page.

I have problems.

Last night I had a dream that Tammy and I were back at the NAMM show and I bought a banjo. I was out of control and I bought the most expensive one I could find, which was about $600.

Then I had serious buyer’s remorse because $600 for a musical instrument that isn’t a piano is insanity, and I don’t have that kind of money!

I could play that thing like a champ though. At first Tammy was mad at me for spending so much money, but then once I impressed her with my mad banjo skillz she was all like “Wow! You’re a pro, Babe! That was awesome!” That made me feel good, but I still had a lump in my stomach from spending so much money on something so frivilous.

Well the first two of the remaining 11 episodes of Farscape haven’t done very well in the ratings, so the case for saving the show isn’t looking too good right now.

The cover of the February 3rd Variety will look like this though!

This morning on the way to work I stopped at Blockbuster to drop off the movies. As soon as I dropped the movies down the slot, this lady popped out of her car and said “Hello, would you like a brochure?” I was expecting a sales flyer for a local business, but then she adds “About stem cell research?” And I laughed at her because I wasn’t expecting such a big thing. I said “Sure! Why not?”

It turns out the brochure was from the Jehovah’s Witnesses. I was lucky to get away with just a brochure and not a 30 minute lecture. Those people are nuts!

I took it, got back in my car and drove away.

She got back in her car to wait for the next person to come drop off a video. What a biyatch! She was totally staking out that location all morning, like a lion ready to pounce on unsuspecting godless movie lovers.

Man what a busy couple of days I’ve had!

Last week I spent two days at our datacenter, getting racks ready and laying cable for maybe 100 machines that we’re moving over from one of our old datacenters. It’s tiring work, and the drive out of downtown LA adds like 45 minutes to my hour-long commute.

Friday night Tammy and I went with Stacy and Steve to the ’03 NAMM concert, which this year turned out to be a tribute concert for Elton John. There were a lot of big names there. People like Norah Jones, Ray Charles, and Diana Krall all played versions of their favorite Elton John songs. Bruce Hornsby did the best job I think. Then EJ himself came out at the end and played a 30 minute set. I tell ya, Elton John may write some lame songs, but he can play a piano like nobody’s business.

I’m not an Elton John fan so I only recognized four or five songs all night, but the tickets were free and it was cool to see all those famous people.

I was really tired by the end though, and I kept trying not to fall asleep during Elton John’s performance. I’m pretty sure that if I had “Elton John sang me to sleep” on my permanent record, I’d be instantly gay.

Saturday Tammy and I went over to Disneyland to renew our annual passes. We ran over to DCA right after that to see if we could catch the last Aladdin show for the day, but we were too late. By that point we were pretty hungry, so we moseyed on over to the Pacific Wharf Cafe to grab dinner. We stuffed ourselves and then decided to head home and rent some movies. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and Super Troopers turned out to be two truly boring films.

Sunday we stopped by the NAMM show at the Anaheim Convention Center to meet with Tammy’s trade show contractor to see the work he did for Roland’s booth, the largest at NAMM. We got to walk backstage to see the storage and eating areas, which was kind of neat. Whenever I’m at trade shows I always wonder what they keep back there, and now I know that there are lots of boxes, break areas, and private offices. Not too exciting!

After NAMM we rushed down to Carlsbad to catch Tammy’s grandfather as he finished the San Diego Marathon. We were a little late though, so we met him at his friend’s condo afterward instead.

On the way back home we stopped for a late lunch in Dana Point at a little taco stand off of PCH. I had a carne asada burrito that was only like $2.50, and it was freakin’ delicious.

Today Tammy has to work, but I have the day off. Ha-hoo! I’ve been playing with the cat and we took a nap together. I tried to play Super Mario Sunshine, but I’m at the point where the only areas that I can play are super hard ones. I’m beginning to get frustrated, and now I want to play Zelda.

I love the way money smells. (Dr. Evil pinkie raise)

No matter how old and worn out a dollar bill is, it always smells the same as every other dollar bill.

I also love the way gasoline smells, although not as much as I used to when I was a kid.

Well it looks like my primary source for LA traffic information, ocnow.com, is no more. It has been bought out by Cox, and the traffic maps are now gone.

All is not lost, though. I stumbled upon the LA traffic map at sigalert.com and now I’m happy! It’s just as comprehensive as the ocnow map, but it’s bigger and easier to read!

I have saved myself countless hours in commuting time by checking these maps in the morning before I leave for work at at night before I leave for home. Without them, I’m not sure what I would do.

I think I get more spam advertising Norton Systemworks 2003 than anything else.

Hot damn! Unreal 2 has gone gold and will be released the first week in February! Talk about a beautiful game!

I made a country chicken casserole last night. It wasn’t particularly flavorful, so I think I probably screwed up the recipe somehow. It sure looked good though!

Have I mentioned how much I hate Adelphia Cable? They shut off our cable a month after we moved in. Granted, we weren’t ever a paying customer of theirs, but damn them for keeping records and being efficient! I had to buy antennas for our two TVs, and brother, life is hell without cable. Half of the OTA stations in Los Angeles are in either Chinese or Spanish, and the few english stations that we do get tend to fade in and out with the weather.

I have to wait until I get back to my parents house on Monday to watch the two new Tivod Farscape episodes!
